The Sphere Northampton Launches The Sphere Exchange, a Bartering Marketplace for Entrepreneurs

Northampton, MA — June 1, 2026 — The Sphere Northampton, a nonprofit coworking and entrepreneurial support hub dedicated to advancing an inclusive small-business ecosystem in Western Massachusetts, is proud to announce the launch of The Sphere Exchange, a private bartering marketplace and community where women and nonbinary entrepreneurs across the region can trade skills, services, and goods with one another.
The Sphere Exchange launches today as part of The Sphere’s Summer of Swaps, a season-long celebration of community, creativity, and mutual support.
Your Expertise Is Your Currency
The Sphere Exchange operates on a simple, equitable premise: one hour for one hour, regardless of the service or skill. One hour of legal consulting trades for one hour of graphic design. Two hours of bookkeeping trades for two hours of photography. Every member’s time is valued equally — a principle that reflects The Sphere’s deep commitment to equity and accessibility for entrepreneurs at every stage and background.
Members post offerings and requests using a simple format, connect with their match, complete their trade, and celebrate together. The bartering marketplace and community is free to join and open to women and nonbinary entrepreneurs across Hampshire, Hampden, Franklin, and Berkshire counties.
A Long-Held Goal, Finally Realized
The Sphere Exchange has been a goal of The Sphere Northampton for some time, growing directly out of the organization’s community needs assessment and strategic plan. That research consistently surfaced two things entrepreneurs needed most beyond technical assistance: stronger peer networks and practical ways to access resources without financial barriers. The Sphere Exchange was designed to address both directly.

We built The Sphere Exchange because we believe that every entrepreneur in this community has something valuable to offer.”
Meet the Moderator
The Sphere Exchange bartering marketplace and community will be moderated by Chantelle Davis-Gray, who brings warmth, expertise, and a deep commitment to the community to this role. Chantelle will help keep The Sphere Exchange a welcoming, productive, and supportive space for all members.

The Sphere Exchange is a private Facebook group open to women, nonbinary, and gender expansive entrepreneurs across Western Massachusetts. To join, visit the group and answer a few brief questions. Members will be approved by the admin team and welcomed into the community.
