7 Tips to Find Work-Life Balance as a Woman Entrepreneur
Finding work-life balance as a woman entrepreneur can feel like a pie-in-the-sky, elusive goal, but it’s essential for long-term success and well-being. Here are some practical strategies to help you maintain balance while growing your business:
1. Set Boundaries
We are starting with a tough but important one! The lines between work and personal life can blur easily when you’re an entrepreneur. We take our work personally and it becomes a part of us (heck, I call my business “my child!”) Setting clear boundaries, such as designated work hours or “no work” zones at home, can help you protect your time and prevent burnout. Plus, it might also protect your relationships.
2. Prioritize Self-Care
Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your business. Make time for exercise, hobbies, and relaxation, even when your schedule feels overwhelming. Schedule those pilates sessions! A regular self-care routine boosts energy and focus, which helps you tackle business challenges more effectively (and patiently). We have health and self-care resources such as standing desks, balance ball seats, treadmill pads, and community bikes at The Sphere Innovation Lab coworking space to help you make self-care a part of everyday work.
3. Delegate and Let Things Go
You don’t have to do everything yourself. Even though we know you can! Delegating tasks to your team or outsourcing non-core (or non-preferred) activities, like bookkeeping or social media management, can free up your time for higher-priority tasks and personal activities, like keeping the ship (or marriage) afloat. In 2025, The Sphere Innovation Lab will have a concierge service for members to help delegate those tasks and put them in good hands!
4. Set Realistic Goals
As an entrepreneur, it’s tempting to aim for rapid growth and success. However, setting achievable short-term goals can reduce stress and give you a sense of accomplishment without overextending yourself. Break larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks. Remember the story of the rabbit and the hare—it’s consistency over speed, y’all.
5. Pencil-in Time for Yourself
Your calendar is probably full of coffee meetings and deadlines, but don’t forget to schedule time for yourself. Whether it’s a weekly yoga class at Yoga of the Valley, reading a new novel from Bookends in Florence, or spending time with friends over chai at Zen Frog, making space for personal time will make you a better entrepreneur (and human!) in the long run.
6. Leverage a Support Network
Surround yourself with a network of peers, mentors, and fellow entrepreneurs who understand your journey. Sharing experiences and advice can lighten the load and provide perspective when work-life balance seems hard to achieve. Looking for a place to connect? Swing on by one of our events or drop-in sessions at The Sphere Northampton! Find the list here or become a member of The Sphere Innovation Lab coworking space to work amid your own personal support network.
7. Accept Imperfection
Oof! This one is hard. Remember, balance doesn’t mean perfection. Some weeks will be busier than others, and that’s okay. The key is to keep on adjusting and re-evaluating, making sure you’re not neglecting the things that matter most—both personally and professionally.
By implementing these strategies, you can work to create a healthier, more sustainable balance between your entrepreneurial ambitions and personal well-being. A balanced life allows you to bring your best self to your business while enjoying the fruits of your hard work (especially if you run a farm!).
At the Sphere Innovation Lab, we work hard to help build a community that values hard work, the power of women and nonbinary entrepreneurs, AND the value of work-life balance (or something like it).
