Welcome to The Sphere’s Interactive Trail Map

To assist you in finding women & non-binary-owned businesses to support, we have made an interactive map of the businesses in The Sphere’s directory! The map is organized by business type for ease of use, with each type having its own icon.

You can view the map as a whole, or select a layer to view the businesses that are providing that type of service

(Click icon in top left to view legend.)

For example, if you are looking for somewhere to eat, clicking on the “Food & Beverage” section would show where you can find the restaurants in our directory.

There is also a layer dedicated to virtual businesses that can serve any area.

Some locations are approximate and show the general area a business serves, rather than an exact address. For businesses where this is the case, there is a note in their description.

How we collected data for the Trail Map

The Sphere teamed up with Arts Equity Group to conduct a survey to identify women & non-binary business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs in Northampton, MA. The data aggregated in this survey will be used to create a trail map designed to drive traffic to these businesses. Date was anonymized and analyzed to draw insights about the populations The Sphere aims to support.

Trail Map History

We unveiled our Trail Map at Spill The Tea Sis Apothecary during our Navigating Wellness Salon on 10/18/2023!

What began as a vision is now a reality made possible by The Strong Entrepreneurs Ecosystems grant awarded to The Sphere by The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative. Learn more about our grant here.

The Trail Map is a visual guide that currently identifies 54 women and nonbinary-owned businesses in the greater Northampton area. At The Sphere, we’re dedicated to connecting and uplifting driven women and nonbinary entrepreneurs, helping them unleash their potential and make a positive impact on our community and the local economy.

This Trail Map is a crucial part of our strategic plan to connect and support motivated professionals through The Sphere Network. It’s a quick and easy way to find those connections, whether they’re brick-and-mortar or cloud-based businesses.

Information for this map was gathered during the #GetOnTheMap campaign, a study conducted in collaboration with The Sphere Northampton and Arts Equity Group earlier this year. This study provided insight into our community, helping us create relevant programming and content.
